Promotional products can return many times their initial investment if you choose them wisely. Unlike other forms of advertising, promotional products last more than the span of a few minutes on the television or the length of time it takes to turn the page in your newspaper. When you put your name on a product that your prospective customers will keep and use, you’re buying an enduring advertisement that will promote your business day in and day out for months, and sometimes years.

The very longevity of promotional products, though, means that you should put a lot of careful thought into the products that you choose. Whether your aim is to cultivate new business or hold onto existing customers, the promotional products that you choose will affect the way that your customers and clients view your company. In most cases, it’s far better to invest in fewer and higher quality promotional products than it is to send out a large number of cheap gimmick-y promotional products. There are always exceptions to the rule, though, and the only way to decide which are the best promotional products for your business and purpose is to carefully evaluate your company image and the goals of your current marketing campaign.

What is your company image?
Every firm has an image that they project to the public. Is yours a serious business that values the appearance of professionalism? Is it a fun-loving, youth-oriented business? Are you the company that has a heart? The image that you choose to project will affect the type of promotional products that you choose for your promotions.
By the same token, if you want to change your image, kicking off a promotional campaign with the right products is a good way to start changing the way that people view your company.

Who is your target market?
Another important factor in choosing the right promotional products for your campaign is your target market. What sort of product will appeal to them? What range of products will make you look good in their eyes? If you’re marketing your product to the avid do-it-yourself handyman, for instance, you can’t go wrong with a quality torch or emergency tool kit. If you’re appealing to fashion-conscious business women, then you might choose an elegant pocket mirror or compact as a promotional tool.

Are the promotional products for a specific event?
Promotional products chosen for an advertising campaign can differ significantly from those that you choose to use at a specific event. Trade shows and industry conferences call for a very different type of promotional product than product buying incentives. Community events like beach parties and town fairs are one of the exceptions noted above – you can easily get away with cheap, gimmick-y promotional products that bear your name because it’s all in good fun. Even the stodgiest of business establishments can be expected to loosen up and be playful for these events.
If you’re uncertain about how to choose the best promotional products for your business, have a chat with a representative from a top-flight UK promotional products supplier. They’ll have lots of ideas to help get your own creative thoughts in motion. Between you, you’ll come up with the perfect promotional products to kick your advertising efforts into high gear.
