The internet is a big place and popular with all ages and types of people. While most people mean you no harm, there is the odd creep who will lie to you to get what they want.
For instance there is the older man or woman who lies about their age. I don’t mean they lie about being a few years younger, but men who are in their 50s but their dating profile states they are 22 years old. An easy way to find out if these people are lying is to ask for a very recent photo of the person holding up the date, to prove it’s actually there photo and not a stolen image taken from some where online.
Then there is the second type of fraud, the creepy guy who contacts you through dating services and then he will start asking for nude photos or explicit photographs of you. These type of guys are usually looking to collect sexual images of random women through dating sites.
Another type of weirdo is the person who joins a dating service just to waste time when they are bored at work for their own entertainment at your expense. Not only do office workers engage in this, but then you also get underage teenagers who get a kick out of lying to men or women and they try to see how far they can take it. They use stolen pictures of models with fake profiles, then they contact you and lead you on for fun.
Some other people who have the internet access and lots of time on their hands are prison inmates. Surprisingly they have internet access in jail and inmates amuse themselves by trying to chat with you. You can nip all of the game players in the bud by asking for their phone number. 99% will get discouraged and leave you alone.
When you get someone’s phone number you can do a reverse lookup, using a reverse phone directory and you can find out the name and address of the person associated with that number. This is an easy way to detect if they are lying about where they live or their name.
If you get the persons name you can do a Google search to see if their name is listed, sometimes names do come up. You can learn a lot about a person by doing a Google search on them.
Another quick way to get rid of all these problems is not to signup to free dating sites. Since free dating web sites don’t require a credit card, game players can easily get away with lying about age, gender or anything they feel like deceiving you about. You will get rid of underage teenagers, prison inmates and many other liars fast this way.
Hopefully I haven’t scared you off from using online dating sites, the amount of people who start relationships by meeting through the web is staggering. It’s a great way to meet people but just be careful. Don’t let a few bad apples ruin the fun, happy dating!
